By Sam J. Shaolian · July 18, 2025

Expanding your home with a room addition is an exciting project, but ensuring that the electrical and plumbing work is expertly handled is crucial to its success. At SKS Construction, we understand the complexities of integrating new systems into an existing structure, and our expertise ensures a seamless, safe, and efficient expansion of your living space.

Understanding Electrical Work in Room Additions

Adding a new room means more than just creating extra space—it involves integrating an electrical system that complements and supports your home’s existing infrastructure. SKS Construction takes a strategic approach to electrical work, ensuring that your new addition is both functional and compliant with the latest safety codes.

Key considerations include:

• Load Capacity: We evaluate your current electrical panel to determine if it can handle the additional load. If necessary, we recommend an upgrade to prevent overloads and potential hazards.
• Wiring Layout: Our team carefully plans wiring routes, ensuring proper placement of outlets, lighting, and switches for optimal functionality and convenience.
• Energy Efficiency: We incorporate energy-efficient lighting and smart home integrations to enhance both sustainability and convenience.

With SKS Construction, you can trust that your electrical system will be installed with precision, meeting both safety regulations and your specific needs.

Plumbing Essentials for Room Extensions

If your new room addition includes a bathroom, kitchenette, or laundry area, plumbing becomes a key component of the project. Our skilled plumbers at SKS Construction ensure that water supply and drainage systems function seamlessly within your expanded space.

Critical aspects we address:

• Water Supply Integration: We assess whether your current water supply can support additional fixtures or if an upgrade is necessary for adequate pressure and performance.
• Drainage and Venting: Proper waste disposal and venting are essential to prevent clogs and ensure efficiency. Our team strategically connects new pipes to the existing system while adhering to plumbing codes.
• Fixture Installation: From sinks and toilets to showers and washing machines, we ensure all fixtures are installed with precision, preventing leaks and long-term maintenance issues.
